Students of all levels are welcome to attend any of Bend's classes.
We simply call Yoga by its name, moving away from the current trend to create brands. We teach postures (asana), at times flowing sequences (vinyasa), or sometimes slow moving or held postures (sthana), breathing (pranayama), and meditative practices.
Restorative classes recharge our energy reserves and heal the effects of stress, bringing conscious relaxation. In a candlelit room, with gentle music, you’ll experience the benefits of peaceful moving mediations and the gentle exploration of supported poses. Hands-on assisting will facilitate a deeper experience. Recent neurological research shows that 20 minutes in a well supported restorative pose is equal to 2 hours worth of good sleep in terms of brainwave activity and cell regeneration.
This session is perfect for people new to the practice of yoga as well as for more seasoned students who want to review the basics. You will strengthen the foundation of your practice and receive individualized attention as you gain flexibility, strength, and balance. In each class you will explore specific alignment of asanas (yoga poses) and asana sequences including standing, seated, backbends and sun salutations; as well as the relationship of movement and breath. Yogic breathing, meditation and relaxation techniques will also be introduced.
Vigorous vinyasa (“breath-synchronized movement”) wrapped in passion and strength. This practice involves poses, breathing, meditation and relaxation. The room temperature is warm (75-85 degrees) but not hot, as we encourage building the fire from within. We simply call Yoga by its name, moving away from the current trend to create brands.
We honor the tradition of yoga and Pilates as a dialog between teacher and student by offering private instruction for individual students and small groups. Whether you are brand new, have a physical condition that needs special attention, or you would just like to have a specialized consultation regarding your personal practice we highly recommend the benefits of private sessions.
